WHAT YOU MISSED

An excellent and varied Welsh evening! Mike started off with the courtship and wedding of Pwll and Rhiannon which led to the discomfiture of Gwawl, her rejected suitor, and the first ever game of Badger in the Bag, for which vengeance was taken in The Vanishing of Dyfed, as told by Raphael, but all turned out well in the end, and these two stories can be found in the first and third branches of The Mabinogi here.

In between these two stories, Maddie told the tale of how Gwion Bach gained all the wisdom of the world and was reborn as the bard Taliesin, a version of whose story can be found here,
and Sheila, a teller new to us, told The Fisherman and the Mermaid, from Once Upon a Midlife, which you can easily google and buy new or secondhand.

Paul filled the second half with The Strand of the Bitter Cry, a tale of delayed but fearful divine vengeance, which you can find here. And here is a picture in which the young maid discovers that the vengeful waves have already invaded the wine-cellar.
